As part of Enva’s investment in a new ash recovery plant, an exciting new opportunity has arisen for an Engineer’s Mate to join our team assisting the Maintenance Engineer with the daily site maintenance activities of our new plant, in addition to our existing chemical processing plant based at our Paisley site. This is a full-time role on a 12-month fixed term contract. It will involve shift work including an early shift from 6am to 3pm, and a back shift from 2pm to 11pm, Monday to Friday, with some overtime weekend work as and when required.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for conducting preventative and reactive maintenance activities on the static and mobile plant. The successful applicant will have experience in basic routine maintenance work including transfer pumps and pipe fitting. We are looking for someone who is detailed and conscientious and able to remain calm under pressure when working to tight deadlines. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct preventative and reactive maintenance activities on static and mobile plant
  • Effectively work with operations to coordinate maintenance and operational needs
  • Prioritise process activities/ throughput at all times
  • Assist contractors with maintenance activities where required
  • Work with process development engineer to develop technical best practice and establish standard policies and procedures
  • Encourage a culture of proactive health and safety by challenging unsafe behaviours and applying a safety focused approach to all activities plus others.

This is not an exhaustive list. You may also be required to carry out any other duties as required by the business that you are qualified/trained in that meet the requirements for this role.

  • A detailed and conscientious approach to work tasks
  • Proactive and reactive maintenance with good problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and whilst working to tight deadlines 
  • Good time management skills
  • Flexibility and availability towards working times to ensure the site is kept operational.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • A full valid UK driving licence is essential 
  • Qualified to HNC or HND level in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering is desirable
  • Experience in basic routine maintenance
  • Experience in transfer pumps & pipe fitting.

This is a hands-on maintenance engineering role requiring manual dexterity in awkward positions. The role will require lifting of tools and machinery parts of up to 15kg.
