Enva Specialist Scotland is one of the UK’s leading Resource Management and Recycling Companies, with a reputation for innovation and creativity.  An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Chemist to join our team, based at our Paisley depot.  This is a full-time, permanent role.

Reporting to the Divisional Technical Manager, the successful applicant will participate in the analysis of inward, in-process, and outward materials, help to develop new or improved solutions and share responsibility for general maintenance and calibration of Laboratory equipment and reagents.

Key Roles and Responsibilities will include:

  • Carry out all Laboratory testing according to procedures
  • Carry out Laboratory calibrations according to procedures 
  • Develop new processes and improve existing techniques 
  • Help keep the Laboratory and equipment clean and tidy
  • Assist in carrying out Laboratory responsibilities in the plant 
  • Complete certain paperwork in a neat and tidy manner. 

The right candidate will demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Good analytical chemistry skills
  • Highly self-motivated and enthusiastic
  • Keen attention to detail with a disciplined approach
  • Good understanding of the importance of a tidy and orderly work area
  • Good interpersonal skills and can communicate effectively at all levels
  • Competent knowledge of MS Office
  • Good time management / organisational skills
  • Pro-active approach
  • Flexible / willing to take on new challenges 
  • Displays commitment to the Company and the role
  • Capable of strategic thinking 
  • Good problem-solving skills.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • A university degree including Chemistry, or a minimum HND in Chemistry
  • Working knowledge of MS Office 
  • A full, clean, valid UK Driver’s License (preferred).
