Enva acquires Fridge and WEEE recycler Environcom

Enva, a leading waste management and resource recovery business, has acquired Environcom, one of the UK’s largest independent waste electrical & electronic equipment recycling companies.

With two licenced recycling facilities in Grantham (Lincolnshire) and Stourbridge (West Midlands), Environcom recycles over 12,000 fridges a week and employs 170 people. Environcom has contracts with many leading high street retailers and Producer Compliance Schemes across the UK, supporting the ethical and responsible handling of their electrical and electronic waste, and supplies leading UK charities with quality reuse products.

Commenting on the acquisition Enva’s Director, Barry Phillips said: "The purchase of Environcom further complements our growth strategy in fridge, small domestic appliance and WEEE recycling and consolidates our market leading position in this area. Environcom is a well-run and critical operation in this space, and we look forward to adding further value to the business as a core component of our strategy to maximise the recovery of valuable resources from electronic waste."

Cris Stephenson, Environcom CEO commented: "Environcom’s management and shareholders believe this is an excellent outcome for all our employees and customers, providing real financial strength to the business, opening up opportunities for improved reuse, material recovery and access to many more outlets and markets."

Graeme Milne, Director at REPIC, a key Environcom customer commented: "REPIC welcome the acquisition by Enva, which will provide the business with the ability to invest in new innovative equipment whilst maintaining our excellent working relationship built up over many years."

Simon Boss, Director of Logistics & Home Delivery for Currys, a key Environcom customer added: "As a large retailer we believe we have a duty to save tech, as well as sell it. This is also increasingly important to our customers who want to know what happens to their electrical waste items and ensure they are being reused or recycled to the highest standards. We look forward to our long-standing relationship with Environcom continuing with Enva ownership, as we strive to maximise and further extend the environmental benefits of e-waste reuse and recycling."
