Enva announces landmark win

Glasgow based resource recovery experts, Enva, have been awarded a contract to manage the waste and recycling for 94 sites managed by Historic Environment Scotland (HES) including some of the country’s oldest landmarks such as Edinburgh, Urquhart and Stirling Castles. 

The contract will help Historic Environment Scotland meet its Climate Action Plan Targets which include 70% recycling and net zero greenhouse gas emissions.

Enva will provide environmentally and commercially sustainable solutions for over 60 different waste streams and play an important role in helping HES to meet its Climate Action Plan Targets through effective waste management.  These include:

• 70% recycling by 2025 and no more than 5% to landfill
• Reduce food waste by 33% by 2025
• Net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045 

Commenting the award of the contract Enva’s Sales Director, Stephen Cameron, said: “We look forward to partnering with HES to deliver a best-in-class resource management performance.  This will be achieved through continual assessment of the waste being produced and the services provided. Wherever possible we will seek to introduce innovation to increase the range and volume of materials being recycled and made available for use in the circular economy. I am confident our hugely experienced account management team will continue to deliver efficiencies and support HES in meeting their admirable Climate Action Plan targets.”

As part of the contract Enva will also deliver major improvements to the availability of waste data and management information.  This will provide a much clearer overview of how waste is being managed across the estate. It will also help to identify areas where material can be moved up the waste hierarchy to realise improved environmental and financial value.
