Enva gives Blarney Stone the kiss of life
14 Jul 2020
For over 200 years, millions of pilgrims have joined world leaders, film stars and A-list celebrities in climbing the steps at Blarney Castle in Cork to kiss the legendary Blarney Stone and gain the gift of eloquence.
In recent months, precautions put in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 have meant that visitors could no longer access the mystical powers of this carboniferous limestone. The owners of Blarney Castle were however keen to reopen the world-famous tourist attraction as soon as it was safe to do so. Knowing the company had developed a range of solutions for COVID Blaney Castle’s management team approached Enva to see if there was anything that could be done to revive the stone and allow them to continue giving the gift of ‘blarney’.
After a series of trials and site visits, Enva came up with the perfect solution in the Huwa-San disinfectant product. Huwa-San has been used for many years across a number of industries including food, pharmaceutical and healthcare. It is odourless, colourless and tasteless and whilst being environmentally friendly it’s also 99.9% effective against all germs (Bactericide, Virucide, Fungicide, Sporicide, Algaecide, Amoebicide and Biofilms) - complying with WHO guidelines for disinfection on all surfaces.
Commenting on the Enva’s solution Blarney Castle owner Charles Colthurst said: “We looked at a number of options to try and allow visitors to start kissing the stone safely again but the majority either didn’t provide the required level of protection or risked damaging the stone in some way. Enva went above and beyond to help us identify a safe and practical solution and we’re delighted to now be able to welcome guests to this beautiful and historic castle and gardens once again.”
Enva has worked with businesses across a wide range of sectors to help them return to work and continue operating in a COVID secure way. For more information on our COVID range of products and service click here.
