Enva Officially Opens Scotland’s Only Fridge and Small Domestic Appliances (SDA) Recycling Facility
26 Mar 2025

Enva, one of the UK and Ireland’s leading recycling and resource recovery specialists, has officially opened a new fridge and SDA recycling facility in Perth, Scotland. This multi million pound investment has delivered a flagship facility capable of achieving the highest possible recycling standards.
The state-of-the-art facility, the only dedicated fridge and SDA recycling plant in Scotland, has the capacity to process 4,000 fridges and 300 tonnes of SDA per week providing Scottish residents with the ability to sustainably recycle all their waste fridges and small electrical appliances such as kettles, toasters, vacuum cleaners, and coffee machines.
Equipment installed on-site includes the latest degassing, shredding, and recycling technologies, ensuring that over 98% of the fridges' components will be recovered for further processing. By doing so, the Enva facility will create significant customer value and plays an important role in supporting the development of a more circular Scottish economy.
Commenting on the opening, Enva’s Managing Director, Barry Phillips, said: “This facility represents another outstanding piece of Scottish recycling infrastructure and will create valuable jobs for the local community. It will play a crucial role in enhancing the availability of high-quality recyclable materials, thus reducing pressure on virgin resources and supporting the development of a circular economy. While it will eliminate the need to transport waste fridges and SDA long distances for processing outside the country, it will also provide valuable continuity and resilience capacity for other parts of the UK if needed.”
Enva's commitment to operational excellence includes a dedication to attaining the independently audited WEEELABEX standard, which is already in place at the Company’s e-Waste facilities in Northern Ireland and England.
