Enva invest in state-of-the-art laboratories to strengthen Ireland’s water and waste treatment compliance.

Enva invest in state-of-the-art laboratories to strengthen Ireland’s water and waste treatment compliance.

Leading recycling and resource recovery specialist Enva has opened its newly refurbished and expanded laboratory facilities in Cork, following a significant upgrade to the facility. Over €1 million has been invested in the upgrade, equipping the laboratories with specialist analytical equipment.

The improved laboratory facilities will support accredited water and wastewater testing, solvent analysis, and process optimisation for its customers across various sectors, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, electronics, water, dairy, and meat processing.

The new facility combines three specialist laboratories under one roof, providing customers with access to Ireland's most advanced water and wastewater treatment assessment hub. This facility is designed to support both accredited testing and innovative research, and is already assisting industries nationwide in confirming license compliance, optimising treatment performance, reducing risk, and validating new treatment solutions.

Equipment not available elsewhere in Ireland, including customised respirometry and pilot treatment systems, enables scalable testing of biological wastewater treatment and other systems to enhance wastewater plant performance.

Key features of the enhanced laboratory include:

  • INAB-accredited Reg. scope no 185T wastewater services that provide customers with trusted, compliant data.
  • Process Lab for developing, proving, and optimising treatment techniques, including jar testing services, absorbent media column testing, pilot activated sludge extended aeration trials, respirometry assessments, and toxicity/inhibition studies.
  • Solvent Lab with investment in 2 new GC-MS systems, Karl Fischer, XRF, bomb calorimeter, and flashpoint tester, delivering market-leading solvent and waste analysis.

Kieran Staunton, New Business Development Director, said: “By initially scoping and defining feasibility studies with our customers, we can provide valuable data and outputs at lab scale that inform our customers that a chosen solution or optimisations will work effectively, giving our customers confidence regarding compliance, while also saving time and money.”
