AMS Fertiliser Product
Ammonium Sulphate - (NH4)2SO4 is an inorganic sulphate salt obtained by reaction of sulfuric acid with two equivalents of ammonia. It is widely used as a fertiliser for alkaline soils and crops with a high sulphur requirement. It is an ammonium salt and an inorganic sulphate salt.
Ammonium Sulphate Fertiliser with a 99% lower carbon footprint
Enva produces AMS as a secondary raw material from an industrial waste stream at the Greenogue site, through desalination and granulation.
Industrial processes often generate acid waste that is exported over long distances for recovery, resulting in significant transport emissions and inefficiencies. Recognising this challenge, Enva identified an opportunity to create a more sustainable solution.
By achieving End-of-Waste (EoW) status and engineering an innovative recovery process, Enva now transforms this industrial acid waste into a valuable recovered fertiliser for use within Ireland.
This local treatment approach not only reduces waste volumes but also delivers substantial carbon savings—both by minimising transport distances (the proximity principle) and by replacing the need for newly manufactured fertilisers, thus avoiding the associated raw material extraction and import emissions.
The result is a closed-loop, environmentally responsible solution that benefits Irish agriculture and supports national sustainability goals.
