Linwood Operational Update

27.7.26

As a temporary measure, we have paused acceptance of non-contracted general waste at our Linwood facility due to exceptional pressures affecting residual waste treatment capacity across the UK.

The Linwood facility remains fully operational. Existing contracted services continue as normal, and the temporary restriction applies only to non-contracted waste volumes entering the site.

A combination of reduced off-take capacity resulting from outages at a number of Energy from Waste (EfW) facilities, delays in the commissioning of new third-party treatment capacity, temporary landfill closures and wider market constraints has created significant pressure across the waste and resource management sector. These challenges are affecting operators across the industry, with limited alternative capacity available through third-party contingency providers.

This is not a situation unique to Enva, and we continue to work closely with our customers, supply chain partners and regulatory bodies to monitor the position and identify additional treatment capacity wherever possible.

The current situation also highlights the importance of separating recyclable materials from general waste wherever possible. Recovering recyclable materials reduces the amount of waste requiring disposal, helping to ease pressure on the wider waste management system, supporting higher recycling rates and, in many cases, reducing costs for customers.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers while these wider market conditions continue. The position is being kept under regular review, and we look forward to resuming acceptance.
