Enva and Euronics Shortlisted for National Award Recognising Retail E-waste Initiative

Enva and Euronics (CIH) have been shortlisted for the 2026 Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management in the Waste Management Initiative in the Retail, Commercial and Public Sector category.

The shortlist recognises a collaborative retail e-waste initiative delivering a reuse-first, compliant solution for independent electrical retailers across more than 1,000 UK and Ireland stores.

Developed by Enva for members of Combined Independent Holdings (CIH), the recycling scheme supports over 350 retailers with a simple, scalable route to manage WEEE, combining regulatory compliance with strong environmental performance.

At the core of the initiative is a reuse-first approach. Appliances such as washing machines and fridges are assessed on receipt, with suitable items refurbished and redistributed through charity partners, while non-reusable items are recycled to maximise material recovery.

This model has delivered industry-leading results, including recovery rates across key waste streams, and strong retailer engagement. The initiative also supports customer awareness at store level, helping retailers demonstrate the value of responsible recycling and reuse.

The recovery rates for some of these streams include:

  • Large Domestic Appliances – 99.03% Recovery and 99.64% Recycling / Reuse
  • Cooling Equipment – 98.63% Recovery and 98.56% Recycling / Reuse
  • Display Equipment – 77.40% Recovery and 92.63% Recycling / Reuse

James Bevens, Operations Director at CIH, said:
“This partnership reflects our commitment to helping independent retailers operate responsibly and sustainably. By working with Enva, we’re ensuring that e-waste is managed compliantly while also delivering real commercial benefits to our members.”

Ben Saunders, Commercial Director, Enva said:
“We are proud to be shortlisted alongside Euronics. This initiative shows how collaboration can deliver measurable environmental impact while supporting retailers and advancing circular economy principles at scale.”

The awards ceremony will be held at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London on the 13th of May. The Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management, are the UK’s most prestigious accolades for the waste, recycling, reuse and circular economy sectors.
