Enva invests to support customers amid sustained pressure on the UK's fridge treatment capacity

The company has secured Environment Agency approval for up to 2,000 tonnes of temporary storage capacity for refrigeration equipment at its Corby site, equivalent to around 50,000 domestic fridges, providing customers with a flexible, compliant solution while Enva continues to invest in new treatment infrastructure across its UK network.

The announcement comes as organisations across the sector continue to face capacity constraints, increasing the need for additional compliant storage and treatment solutions to ensure appliances continue moving through the recycling chain.

The additional temporary storage capacity will enable Enva to continue supporting local authorities, producer compliance schemes and other customers, helping maintain continuity of collections and ensuring end-of-life appliances continue to be managed safely and responsibly.

The Corby facility forms part of Enva's wider investment programme to strengthen the UK's fridge treatment infrastructure.

Alongside the temporary storage solution, the company is continuing work on its new fridge recycling facility for London and the South East, expected to become operational in early 2027 and providing  35,000 tonnes of additional treatment capacity for one of the UK's busiest regions, which will solve the current short term capacity constraints.

More recently, Enva announced a £7.5 million investment at its Stourbridge site, creating a new Small Domestic Appliance (SDA) processing facility alongside the UK's first fully compliant end-to-end fridge compressor recycling capability. Together, these investments will further strengthen Enva's national treatment network while increasing the recovery of valuable secondary raw materials from end-of-life appliances.

The temporary storage facility at Corby will initially be available until early 2027, providing customers with greater flexibility while Enva continues to expand its treatment capability through ongoing investment in modern recycling infrastructure.
