Enva Launches Battery Safe Box to Enhance Safe Storage and Transport of Waste Lithium Batteries

Enva, one of the UK and Ireland’s leading recycling and resource recovery specialists, has announced the launch of its new Battery Safe Box — a purpose-built solution for the safe storage and transportation of waste lithium batteries, including defective units.

Capable of storing up to 400kg of lithium batteries and with a maximum capacity of 20kWh, the Battery Safe Box is engineered to contain and isolate fires caused by thermal runaway, preventing the spread of flames and ensuring safe handling throughout storage and transit.

The Enva Battery Safe Box has received official approval from the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA), signifying it has undergone rigorous testing, including fire containment and drop tests. It is fully certified to meet UN Dangerous Goods Packing Instruction P911 standards, ensuring safety and compliance during transportation.

One of the key features of the Lithium Battery Safe Box is its innovative Gas Lift Lid, designed with an L-shaped profile to make opening and loading quick and effortless. This feature addresses common challenges posed by heavy conventional containers, reducing the risk of batteries being stored elsewhere due to difficult access.

The Battery Safe Box exemplifies Enva’s ongoing commitment to delivering safe, innovative, and sustainable resource recovery solutions across the UK and Ireland. With lithium-ion battery fires increasing by 46% last year, this approved and easy-to-use storage solution addresses a critical safety need, providing customers with a tested and accredited way to safely store and transport batteries to licensed recycling facilities.

  • Gas Lift Lid: Facilitates easy opening and closing, reducing operational difficulty.
  • Toggle Clips: Secure the lid quickly and safely with robust, adjustable clips.
  • Front Loading: Allows batteries to be loaded from the front, enabling internal segregation and reducing manual handling.
  • Forklift and Pallet Truck Access: Equipped with forklift slots on all four sides for easy movement and positioning.
  • Stackable Design: Can be stacked up to three units high, maximising storage space and transport efficiency while maintaining stability and safety.
