Enva receives permit for Scottish fridge recycling facility
04/03/24
Enva has successfully completed the PPC (pollution, prevention control) permitting process with SEPA for its new WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) recycling facility in Perthshire, Scotland.
When it comes on-line later this summer the Enva facility will be the only fridge recycling plant in Scotland, providing enough domestic recycling capacity for all the country’s waste fridges. It will also have the capability to recycle over 10,000 tonnes a year of small domestic appliances such as kettles, toasters, vacuum cleaners, and coffee machines.
Enva’s £10m investment in the Perthshire facility will ensure it attains the highest possible recycling standards including a commitment to attain the independently audited WEEELABEX standard. Enva is currently installing the latest degassing, shredding, and recycling technologies at the site which will see over 98% of the fridges’ components, recovered and recycled. In doing so it will play an important role in supporting the development of a more circular Scottish economy.
