Zero Waste to Landfill solution for Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

Zero Waste to Landfill solution for Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

Enva is delighted to be partnering with the team at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship to provide a zero waste to landfill solution. The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is being staged from 30th September to 3rd October and played over three of the world’s best known and respected links courses - the Old Course, St Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns Golf Links in Fife, Scotland.

Our Glenrothes team, led by Scott Irvine, will deliver both front and back of house recycling and waste management services, applying extensive experience gained from managing previous high-profile tournaments. This includes the construction phase setting up the event, championship week, derig phase and post event review.

Members of the public and those working and competing at the event will be encouraged to segregate materials at source – with containers sited at strategically located points including public crossings, tee points and clear signage to signpost the waste stream to be disposed of in each container. Waste streams managed at the event include dry mixed recycling, food, glass and general waste.

In addition, Enva will also help facilitate a closed loop system for single use plastic bottles at the event, working in partnership with Highland Spring and Clean Tech. This will involve having a dedicated waste stream collection at the event which will then be sent to Clean Tech for recycling and production back into bottles for Highland Spring.

Senior Business Development Manager, Richard Tebbutt, said, “We’re excited to be providing waste management services at this prestigious event, a welcome return to events in Scotland, post COVID restrictions. Our zero waste to landfill solution considers the set up and strategic siting of bins to encourage recycling and an optimum frequency of container collections, for reduced vehicle movements, both for public safety and carbon reduction. The Enva solution looks at the entire event footprint and materials journey.”

The hugely popular tournament is set to welcome 16,000 spectators over the four days. For further information please visit the event website, link here: Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

Our Commitments and Vision to protect and preserve the World’s finite resources are outlined in our Sustainability Report.
