Plastics Doubles Output

Plastics Doubles Output

Enva, one the UK’s largest producers of recycled, extruded plastic compounds, has doubled its output capacity following a £1.8 million investment in its facility in Bourne, Lincolnshire (formally Blue Sky Plastic Recycling).

The investment, which includes a new extruder unit, will enable Enva to produce over 2000 tonnes of extruded compound per month, helping its customers to increase their use of recycled material and reduce their reliance upon virgin resources. The increase in extruded compound will also significantly reduce the amount of material being sold as ‘regrind’, adding further value to this important secondary resource.

Enva deploys state-of-the-art waste separation technologies to sort waste plastics derived from the recycling of small domestic appliances and other Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). These are then converted into a range of high-quality regrinds and compounds. Enva materials are used by a range of injection moulding and extrusion companies, both in the UK and internationally, to make a wide variety of products including horticulture to packaging, catering and coat hangers.

Commenting on the increased availability of recycled material, Enva Plastics General Manager, Steve Bell, said, “This investment will make us the UK’s largest supplier of extruded compounds from WEEE and enable our customers to increase the environmental and commercial benefits associated with the use of recycled product. It will also give us greater capability to custom match the colour or physical properties of compounds to our customers’ specific requirements.”
