Enva green compost can benefit agriculture as a low-cost alternative animal bedding and meets BSI PAS100 specification. It is easy to store, handle and apply;

  • Storage - Our green compost should be stored inside or covered to avoid getting wet and to maximise absorbency in the bedded yard.
  • Quantities - We recommend bedding at depths of 10cm and replacing compost as required. Our product can be mixed with straw or used underneath to improve insulation and absorbency of the bedded area.
  • Disposal - Our compost is easily handled and can be applied back to land via a conventional agricultural dung spreader.
  • Cost-effective - Savings on expensive straw bedding and on other animal bedding alternatives such as sawdust, woodchip, paper, crushed husks or sand. Its water absorbency can complement or replace straw promoting high animal welfare standards. Cost savings may also be achieved via reduction in vet bills associated with lameness and reduction in fertiliser costs.

PAS100

The British Standards Institutions 'Publicly Available Specification' 100 (BSI PAS 100 or PAS100) provides a baseline quality specification for compost. PAS 100 includes requirements about how materials such as green and green-food waste can be processed. Composts produced by an accredited site under the certification scheme can achieve ‘product status’, which means that they are no longer regulated as wastes.

PAS100 provides strict requirements to make sure that feedstock materials, such as green and green-food waste, are processed in a controlled way. For example, that the materials being composted are passed through an effective sanitisation stage.
