Repairs were required to a 2.5 million litre capacity bitumen tank and the client needed the tank to be cleaned to facilitate these works.
The tank out flows and the position of man-lid meant that 60m3 of bitumen could not be drained from the tank prior to cleaning. The working temperature of the bitumen tank was 180 degrees.
The client specified internal tank cleaning up to .75 metres.
Enva surveyed the tank and devised a tailored programme of works which was agreed with the client. The works included the removal of solid bitumen from the floor, internally scaffolding and the removal of bitumen residue from the pipes and walls. The floor and walls were then sandblasted up to .75 metres.
Following the completion of Enva’s programme of works, the tank repairs were then carried out and the tank was ready for use.
