Sustainability Award for Woodhead Construction PEMC Project Team

Congratulations to the Woodhead Construction team working on the Nottingham University PEMC Project. Pictured here are Ron Adamson (Project Manager) and David Adamson (Site Manager) who collected the award on behalf of the PEMC Project team. The father and son duo are managing the flagship University of Nottingham – PEMC (Power Electronics; Machines and Control) research facility project for the Woodhead Group.

Ron and David have been recognised for their all-round effort to improve the environment which includes waste reduction, extensive waste segregation and consideration given to local wildlife.

Enva were delighted to present the award on behalf of Woodhead Construction during Recycle Week 2020, supporting this year’s theme of ‘thanking the nation: together we recycle’.

The ultimate recycling award was bestowed in recognition of the outstanding efforts to improve recycling and reduce waste on site. Initiatives embraced on site include toolbox talks covering waste segregation for staff, operatives and subcontractors, a monthly waste champion award and the establishment of a bug hotel which will remain on site post project handover.

The judging panel was particularly impressed by the involvement of subcontractors to achieve overall waste segregation resulting in improved recycling and reduced waste.

In keeping with the wider Woodhead Group’s sustainability ethos, trees will be planted after the site cabins are removed from site.

The Recycling Awards are presented annually during Recycle Week to recognise the achievements of Woodhead Construction employees and subcontractors. The awards are themed on the 90’s cartoon superhero Captain Planet whose mission was to defend the earth from pollution.
