Woodhead Construction partners Enva to deliver sustainable new homes

East Midlands based contractor, Woodhead Construction (Robert Woodhead Ltd), has selected Enva as its waste and recycling partner for a project to build up to 400 new homes in Bolsover, Derbyshire.

The ambitious ‘Bolsover Homes’ initiative sees Woodhead Construction working with Bolsover District Council to deliver against the Council’s social housing programme, promote sustainable growth and create a prosperous and flourishing district.

It is expected that the investment will inject around £32m into the local economy while providing social housing to meet local needs, in the right place with the right mix of house types.

Throughout the build there will be a strong emphasis on maintaining high sustainability standards, which will minimise future tenants’ energy bills and reduce the District’s carbon footprint.

As part of its role, Enva will conduct site waste audits and provide guidance on waste minimisation and increased recycling. The onsite waste services will include clear and practical segregation for a range of materials alongside a variety of containers designed to optimise recycling and recovery rates.

All the waste collected will be taken to one of Enva’s specialist facilities ensuring to further optimise recycling and recovery. Waste that cannot be recovered will be used to create a fuel for the production of sustainable energy.

Commenting on the partnership, Enva’s Commercial Director, Paul Clements, said: “Enva is delighted to partner Woodhead Construction on this flagship project. We are committed to supporting the lifecycle of the valuable secondary resources we manage and to giving them a second life. Our aim is to process each material in the most sustainable way possible, providing closed-loop recycling solutions wherever possible. In doing so we will also ensure the provision of a highly cost-effective service throughout the build programme.”

Glenn Slater, Chief Visionary Officer at Robert Woodhead Ltd said: “It’s fantastic news to secure this long-term programme with Bolsover District Council. They are a forward-thinking Local Authority with a clear plan that has communities, the environment and the local economy at its heart. This is very much aligned with how we work.”

Both Enva and Robert Woodhead  Limited  are proud to be committed to the Considerate Construction Scheme.
