Embedding Sustainability in the Curriculum
14 Jan 2019
During Term 1 of the 2018/19 academic year two different sessions were run by Enva to engage students through their curriculum at Nottingham Trent University. The first focussed on enriching their academic experience by providing an industry professional to discuss the challenges and opportunities currently faced in the profession. The other focussed on what options students might have once they leave university and what type of experience or knowledge base might be expected of them should they want to enter the industry. Both gave a wide range of students the ability to ask honest questions about routes into the industry and about personal experience s with working in the sector.
The first academic session written for final year students on the Environmental Biology BSc course was a two hour lecture as part of their ‘Environmental Management’ module.
The second session was as part of a careers presentation day with other companies and internal speakers to first year Biological Sciences BSc students.
Enva also collaborated with the Sustainable Development Team to embed sustainability themes into Media BA projects. Students were asked to produce pieces themed around waste and recycling with support from both teams. Enva provided site tours of our recycling facilities for students to provide detailed information and allow a deeper understanding of the processes and challenges involved as well as provide the opportunity for pictures and video footage to be taken.
