The Successful candidate will play a key role in managing and developing Enva’s Soil & Site Restoration business throughout the Republic of Ireland. Enva currently employ 1,500 staff, with 350 employees working across 8 locations in Ireland (RoI & NI).

Responsibilities in this varied role will include;

  • Management of the Soil & Site Restoration business unit to maximise sales, throughput and financial performance, and deliver a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Manage the Soil & Site Restoration team and be accountable for the delivery of team objectives
  • Managing priorities and ensuring that individual, team and company objectives are achieved by creating a high performing and adaptable team
  • Keep up to date and informed on construction / rehabilitation projects from pre-design through to contract award / commencement in order to adequately position Enva to realise potential opportunities as early as possible in a project cycle
  • On an ongoing basis manage all aspects of Safety and Compliance within the Soil & Site Restoration operations
  • Working closely with the Operations Manager, ensure that all commercial and contractual components of the Soils business are accurately managed and ensure that the targeted budget for the business unit is attainable and achieved
  • Maintain an excellent working relationship with the Enva client base (Main Contractors, Groundworks Contractors, Hauliers & Consultants, etc.)
  • Manage the relationship with all treatment/recovery/disposal facilities and subcontractors of the Soil & Site Restoration business with a view to delivering smooth operations whilst optimising commercial agreements
  • Source and develop relationships with new and existing treatment and disposal outlets for the Soil & Site Restoration business (both in Ireland and abroad) and maintain a single database of all outlets including the costs and acceptance criteria by material type for each outlet  
  • Maximise internal soil/stone treatment capabilities and the value of all residues generated from internal treatment processes. Work to further develop Enva’s capabilities in processing contaminated soils and other suitable alternative materials
  • Lead the diversification of the Enva business in developing new service offerings to the construction / site rehabilitation / waste sectors
  • Manage the day to day aspects of business improvement and development projects including all operational and staff changes
  • Support the development of Business Operations Procedures and ensure the use of these on an ongoing basis
  • On an ongoing basis work with other divisions and Enva facilities to develop an integrated business offering delivering improvements in business operations, efficiency, resourcing and cost management.

Education & Experience required for the Role:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in a business and/or contracts management role, ideally at a senior/managerial level within the waste, contaminated land or construction sectors
  • Proven management experience and proven commercial experience in a similar and/or highly regulated industry, Primary Degree or similar third level qualification in a technical discipline (e.g. Engineering) is a distinct advantage
  • Good knowledge and experience of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)
  • Familiarity with waste/process industry and/or brownfield site remediation and technical expertise
  • Knowledgeable and experienced (ideally accountable) in areas of health & safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, and inventory processes
  • Highly computer literate and with effective communication and literacy skills (e.g. report writing, excel models)
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills with a proven ability to create to lead by example and create high performing teams
  • Successful team management experience and a track record of managing performance through people
  • Strong commercial skills and demonstrable experience of managing a P&L for a business and/or large multi-disciplinary projects with the ability to take ownership of the day to day financial performance
  • Experience of developing accurate and competitive target costs for the operation of a business unit and management of the delivery of operations against set KPI’s
  • Experience of collaborating with and managing supply chain partners both in the development of new business development initiatives and in the ongoing delivery of operations
  • Experienced in the evaluation and selection of suitable partners and speciality expertise/contractor solutions in order to broaden a service offering for a business
  • Ability to identify risks to the ongoing delivery of a service and ensure that costs and responsibilities are clearly apportioned and documented with all business partners.
