The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and developing the health, safety & compliance management systems within Enva’s operation across Ireland. This role is an opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional to develop Enva’s Health & Safety programme in a dynamic, multi-site environment and to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Health, Safety & compliance management programme, supporting the business’s operations across Ireland to ensure that activities are operated in a safe & compliant manner, in accordance with relevant legal and good practice requirements.
  • Work with senior & local management to set out clear goals and plans for the business which will deliver safer practises and improved performance.
  • Directly manage the Health, Safety & compliance team across Ireland, maximising their contribution to an effective and efficient Health, Safety & compliance programme and the achievement of continual improvement.
  • To maintain and develop Enva’s management systems in accordance with the required standards (i.e. OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001) supporting the maintenance of other (integrated) management systems (e.g. quality, environmental, energy) and accreditations relating to the business.
  • Implement an appropriate and efficient approach to the completion of hazard identification and risk assessment, prioritising higher level risks to ensure that control measures are suitable to the level of risk and supporting these directly where appropriate;
  • Ensure that appropriate and timely incident / accident investigations are conducted with an appropriate corrective & preventative response implemented. 
  • Ensure the monitoring, interpretation and recording of all legislative and other requirements appropriate to the business.
  • Develop, review and interpret appropriate monitoring and reporting programmes to drive change and improvement in Health, Safety and risk management. 
  • Ensure a robust system of performance monitoring including, KPIs, inspections and audits to monitor and measure the effectiveness of systems and adjust measures as necessary to drive continual improvement. 
  • Monitoring of results and ensuring quality and delivery are achieved as planned. To provide opportunity for continuous improvement in service delivery across the business.
  • To develop and build relationships across the organisation in Ireland (and the UK) to achieve a strong and positive Health & Safety culture while supporting productivity and business success. You will be required to help build an appropriate leadership style for leaders within the business such that strong Health, Safety & compliance leadership is both seen and felt. 
  • Be an ambassador for Health & Safety through demonstrating and developing practical and innovative solutions to the Health, Safety and compliance challenges presented.
  • Support the management of change across the business whether this is change due to external factors e.g. change in legal requirements or internal needs 
Key requirements and qualifications desired 
  • Degree in Health and Safety or equivalent with membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Ideally the candidate will have a minimum of 5 years managerial experience with responsibility for Health, Safety & Compliance in an Industrial/Manufacturing environment across multiple sites. 
  • Strong experience and knowledge of Health & Safety requirements, management systems and proven application of practical innovative solutions to the challenges of meeting these requirements. 
  • Possess a high level of IT literacy and competence, in particular understanding application work flows and data systems. 
  • Strong report, procedure writing and presentation skills; 
  • An energetic, progressive, proactive and can-do attitude with proven organisational and technical capabilities.
  • Highly productive with proven people management and motivational skills.
  • A flexible approach and attitude to your work with the ability to prioritise your workload and be able to respond to changing situations. 
  • Excellent communicator with a proven ability to work with personnel at all levels of the organisation in a constructive, positive manner, which includes being a trusted advisor and listener.
  • Strong organisational, decision making and time management skills; 
  • Experience with managing chemicals, flammable atmospheres, ADR and confined spaces is an advantage;
  • Full Driving licence 
  • Willingness to travel to all sites and occasionally travel internationally;
