The successful candidate will play an important role in the continued development of Enva’s expanding Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) management system. Based at our Cork facility you will report directly to the Safety & Compliance Manager for Ireland and be focused on activities relating to the Water Division and the Cork facility. However, the role will involve supporting the wider business in Ireland including the development of companywide HSE systems as well as risk mitigation and prevention strategies across all active locations on the island of Ireland. 

The successful candidate must be familiar with the requirements of safety management and have a high level of IT literacy and competence as the role will require the applicant to be involved in the use and further development of IT solutions (applications) for the maintenance of the HSEQ management system. 

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Ongoing management and development of the HSEQ management system to optimise it’s efficiency and maximise its effectiveness.
  • Support the maintenance and development of the safety management systems (e.g. OHSAS 18001/ ISO 45001) in accordance with the requirements. In conjunction with this work with the Facility Manager, Line Managers and other stakeholders to ensure the maintenance of other management system standards within the organisation e.g. ISO 14001, ISO 9001 where required.  
  • Support the maintenance and development of appropriate applications/software to improve the efficiency and performance of HSEQ management system (i.e. ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 9001). This will include improvements to existing systems/ applications currently in place and the implementation/development of new systems/applications. Examples include, document control, training, accident/incident investigation, auditing, asset management, checks and inspections etc.
  • Assist in the identification and assessment of risk across business units helping to ensure effective implementation of appropriate control measures.
  • Support the appropriate investigation of incidents, identification of appropriate corrective/preventative actions and the communication of the learning from incidents;
  • Monitor and report on relevant performance data relating to H&S including the company’s Key Performance Indicators, ensuring data accuracy within management systems/applications; Develop and communicate appropriate reports to drive a continuous improvement culture.  
  • Coordinate and directly support the internal audit programme in addition to directly conducting regular checks and inspections of activities.
  • Conduct routine inspections in line with the relevant HSE related requirements
  • To support compliance programmes relating to all HSE related licenses, permits etc. efficiently within a commercial operation, in particular the facility’s Industrial Emissions Licence issued by the EPA. 
  • Develop and deliver training to various stakeholders throughout the business as required (e.g. use of applications, management systems or other HSE training as required);
  • Communicate effectively at all levels within the business, participating in and contributing constructively to routine and other forums as appropriate, leading & promoting a continuous improvement culture in relation to work practices throughout the business, including  the development of campaigns and initiatives to improve awareness to promote and increase compliance and improve culture. 
  • Assist the HS manager in the development of HSEQ system controls as required throughout various business units or through group initiatives.

Key Requirements & Qualifications Desired:

  • Third level qualification in safety or a similar discipline;
  • Experience in or a good knowledge of HSE management systems is a distinct advantage.
  • High level of IT literacy and competence, in particular understanding application workflows and data systems.
  • An energetic, progressive, can do attitude with proven capabilities.
  • Strong report (and procedure) writing skills;
  • You must have a flexible approach and attitude to your work with the ability to prioritise your workload and be able to respond to changing situations.
  • Excellent communicator and an ability to work with personnel at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations (e.g. training);
  • Good organisational and time management skills;
  • Full Driving licence
  • Willingness to routinely travel nationally;
