Due to continuous growth, we have a new opportunity for the Laboratory Analyst to join our Technical Team.

Laboratory Analyst - The Role:

Completing daily analysis of Processed Fuel Oil and waste oils to ensure compliance with PFO Protocol and Enva England Special Waste specifications, providing traceable and auditable results. This is an analytical role which requires a keen eye for detail and a methodical approach.

Laboratory Analyst - Key Responsibilities: 

  • Analysis of oil and fuels samples in a timely manner maintaining UKAS accredited standards at all times.
  • Use of; Gas Chromatograph, EDXRF and WDXRF, Sediment Tester, Carbon residue tester, pH analysis, ash determination and other quality control tests.
  • Support the maintenance, calibration, and quality of laboratory equipment.
  • To carry out UKAS work and calibration in timely manner. 
  • To set up oil Analysis on FTIR and new sulphur method on WD-xrf.
  • To Test COD, pH and send same for oil analysis, COD and pH to be completed daily.
  • To test PFO for same day analysis.
  • To log and analyse the data. 
  • To run and monitor SQC samples. 
  • Housekeeping, cleaning of sample jars, xrf cups, glassware etc.

Knowledge, Training, Experience, Technical and Personal Skills:

  • Degree level qualification in analytical chemistry or similar qualification.
  • Experience working within UKAS or high-quality laboratory environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn and interpret new methods.
  • Hands on and methodical, organised with attention to detail.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good numerical skills.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Organised with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Positive and motivated with flexible and adaptable attitude.
  • Problem solving and solution focussed ability.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations and / or systems. 
  • A flexible attitude to the team’s work, including a willingness to reprioritise and undertake additional tasks if required.
  • Friendly personality and team player.
  • Must demonstrate high levels of integrity and adopt a professional approach in all interactions – should be transparent, open and honest in all dealings.
  • Strong PC and technical knowledge and skills with an excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft packages including Word, Excel, and Teams.
