Due to continuous growth, we have an opportunity for a Site Chemist to join our Technical Team.

Site Chemist - The Role:

To supervise the daily on-site waste transfer operations including pre-acceptance, acceptance, and onward transfer. To ensure the plant operates safely and in compliance with the Environmental Permit and its various operating conditions. To continually improve processes in line with the sites lean management principals.

Site Chemist - Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform pre-acceptance and acceptance analysis on wastes to ensure permit compliance.
  • Maintain and enhance records that ensure EMS.
  • Conduct quality control test using; ICP, ED-XRF, Flash point, Dean stark and other quality control tests. 
  • Verify all waste is correctly labelled in accordance with dangerous goods requirements and that associated waste paperwork accurately reflects the incoming and outgoing material.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal requirements and regulation related to waste disposal and chemical handling to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee waste transfer operations to ensure all site activities are in line with the EMS and in full compliance with site permits.
  • Support with duty of care visits to 3rd party disposal sites.
  • Work with the commercial team to ensure the profitability of all hazardous waste operations in line with company expectations.
  • Maintain and continually improve highest standards of health and safety. 
  • Responsibility for all permit reporting and monitoring.
  • To actively assist and Support Operations Manager in managing subcontractors, including participation in cost negotiations.
  • Be a key member of the Operations/Technical team, providing/developing key KPI’s.
  • Any other duties as required.

  • Must demonstrate high levels of integrity and adopt a professional approach in all interactions – should be transparent, open, and honest in all dealings.
  • Chemistry degree.

Desirable:

  • WAMITAB Level 4 (4TMH or 4TSH or HROC 6 and 4a).
  • DGSA.
  • NEBOSH / IOSH Managing Safely (or higher).
  • COTC
  • Forklift licence
