An opportunity has arisen for a Site Supervisor to join our Operations team based at our Paisley site. This is a full-time, permanent role. The usual shift pattern will be from 7.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. This role may involve occasional weekend, night-time, and bank holiday working therefore a flexible approach to work will be required to ensure that vital work and repairs are achieved timely and accurately.

Reporting to the Site Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for all operations on site including transfer and treatment processes on-site, in addition to our ash recovery plant. The successful applicant will focus on safety, regulatory compliance, efficiency, customer service, and cost control to provide a competitive edge. They will work closely with our technical and operations teams and have responsibility for the yard and plant operators. The successful applicant will be hands on possessing good communication and leadership skills.

Key Roles and Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure the site, plant, and equipment operates to maximum efficiency in a safe and controlled manner and that all operations are recorded formally
  • Ensure all operators, contractors and visitors are working and adhering to company safety systems
  • Ensure that the correct Personal Protective Equipment, as provided by the Company, is worn at all times
  • Encourage a culture of proactive health and safety management with all accidents and incidents reported and investigated
  • Ensure all shifts are suitably covered as per Health and Safety and management requirements
  • Ensure that dynamic risk assessments are carried out as required
  • Participate and be proactive in process improvements with site operations and the engineering team
  • Collate daily readings and operator stats/delays, develop reporting KPI’s to identify improvements
  • Ensure that process plant and equipment operate safely, effectively and efficiently through all shifts
  • Ensure that the plant and equipment is set up, monitored and produces to all agreed specifications
  • Assist with the general operation of the processing plant as required
  • Maintain the highest cleanliness of all working areas
  • Complete all allocated paperwork and record keeping
  • Identify problematic stock and work with site manager/technical team to confirm disposal routes
  • Check and approve batch processes sheets, delegate batch simulations and ensure batch processing is efficient
  • Communicate any operational issues to Site Manager
  • Engage lab staff in processes
  • Monitor rep sample requests and minimize issues resulting in delays for testing/reporting
  • Ensure that appropriate traffic management controls are in place and adhered to
  • Organise the removal and discharge of waste and effluent in accordance with management instructions and in compliance with the Site licence
  • Carry out annual Personal Development Reviews (PDRs) of all direct reports
  • Carry out other tasks within your operational ability or for which you have received appropriate training, as and when required.

Experience and Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Experience of working in a factory and/or a processing environment
  • Experience of effective leadership of teams
  • Experience in operating within a processing environment
  • A full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • HNC or equivalent qualification in Chemistry or a related discipline
  • Experience in the chemical or water treatment industry
  • Experience in continuous process operations
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment.

This is an active, site-based role. You will spend most of your time on site and the role will involve a hands-on approach to supervising.
